Meet Mike!

Hi, I’m Mike Stein.

I’m a teacher, a husband of 24 years, a father of two teenage daughters, and a cancer survivor. I’m running for State Representative because I believe working families in Coffee and Grundy Counties deserve leadership that actually understands their day-to-day lives.

I didn’t grow up thinking I’d run for office. Like a lot of people here, I was raised to work hard, take care of my family, and do my part in my community. Those values have shaped every decision I’ve made in my life.

For the past two decades, I’ve been a teacher at Coffee County High School. In the classroom, I see firsthand what our students are capable of and what they need to succeed. I also see the challenges families are facing—rising costs, limited opportunities, and systems that don’t always work the way they should.

My decision to run is personal.

As a cancer survivor, I’ve experienced our healthcare system up close. I know what it feels like to sit in a waiting room not knowing what comes next, and I know how important it is to have access to quality care when you need it. That experience changed how I see a lot of things, especially the responsibility we have to take care of each other.

At home, I’m just Dad. My wife and I have been married for over two decades, and raising our daughters has been the most important part of my life. Like any parent, I want them to have opportunities, stability, and a future they can build right here in the community we love.

That’s why I’m running.

I’m focused on the issues that affect everyday life—lowering costs for families, strengthening our public schools, and improving access to healthcare in rural Tennessee. I’m not interested in political games or distractions. I’m interested in doing the work and finding solutions that actually help people.

When I’m not teaching or working on the campaign, I enjoy spending time with my family, supporting local events, and staying connected to the community I’m proud to be a part of.

I’m running to listen to your concerns, to serve, and to make sure the people of District 47 have a strong voice in Nashville. I’d be honored to earn your support.
